Registered Nurse (RN) - 1:1 School Nurse
About The Position
This role involves providing 1:1 nursing support within a school setting for a student requiring ongoing tracheostomy care throughout the school day. The Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for direct patient care, including tracheostomy care, respiratory monitoring, medication administration, and responding to medical emergencies. The position also requires maintaining accurate health records, collaborating with school staff and families, and supporting the student's safe participation in all school activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, consistent, comfortable following individualized care plans, and adept at building a strong relationship with the student. This role offers a predictable schedule with summers off and a strong work-life balance, making it ideal for an RN who values routine and meaningful work.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire
- Background check and fingerprinting will be required for this role

Responsibilities
- Providing 1:1 nursing care for a student throughout the school day
- Performing tracheostomy care and monitoring the student's respiratory status
- Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
- Assessing and responding to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
- Maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided
- Collaborating with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student's health and educational goals
- Supporting safe participation during classroom activities, transportation, and throughout the school day
- Serving as a health resource for school staff and assisting with health-related needs as appropriate
- Riding the school bus with the student daily
