About The Position

Dane Street is seeking Registered Nurses to perform reviews and clinical summaries for disability claims. This is an ongoing project-based need with an expected report turnaround time of 2 days. Initial training will be provided, including a walkthrough of the Dane Street portal to ensure comfort with the technology and familiarity with report formatting. Training materials such as sample reports and client-specific documents will be shared. A Dane Street contact will be available to assist with any questions or concerns post-training.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse
Prior work experience in commercial disability insurance (e.g., disability insurance carrier or TPA like UNUM, Sedgwick, Mutual of Omaha)
Diverse Clinical Background

Responsibilities

Perform reviews and clinical summaries for disability claims.
Provide a clinical summary of relevant medical documentation for the period under review.
Summarize each document, including author, date, and title/type.
Identify the claimant's impairing diagnosis and any comorbid conditions impacting function or recovery.
Include relevant diagnostic testing, lab work, exam findings, or other clinical information pertinent to the impairing condition.
Provide a conclusion to the assessment, which may include restrictions and limitations specific to the condition and a supported duration.
Offer a clinically based rationale supporting the nurse reviewer's conclusions.
Answer all referral questions posed.
Potentially make calls to treating providers, based on client requirements.
Write documentation in a professional and concise manner.
Ensure documentation is free of clinical and/or claim acronyms, using appropriate clinical titles (MD, Dr, APRN).
Ensure documentation is free of grammar and spelling issues.
Explain all medical terminology in layman's terms.
Write in a manner easily understood by a layperson, avoiding unapproved abbreviations/acronyms.
