About The Position

Samaritan Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Resource Pool. In this role, you will be responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame, implementing the Nursing Process. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and other clinicians to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes. Samaritan Healthcare is designated as a Trauma Level III by the Washington State Department of Health. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week, with day shifts (7am-7:30pm) and rotating weekends and holidays. There is an extra incentive of up to $7,500 sign-on bonus for external candidates, subject to a two-year agreement. Additionally, cross-trained RNs can earn up to $5.00 additional per hour, with tiered increases based on the number of units cross-trained to.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
Current Washington State RN Licensure.
Ability to perform the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of all assigned patients.
HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire – AHA or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Experience as an acute care registered nurse preferred.
Minimum one year of RN experience preferred for specialty nursing departments.
Resource RN Need to obtain all of the certifications applicable to the nursing units to which they have been trained.
AWHONN’s Advanced Fetal Monitoring course is only required if labor trained and caring for pregnant patients.
NRP (AAP Neonatal Resuscitation Program) is only required if labor trained and caring for pregnant patients.

Responsibilities

Performs assessment/data collection, focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, and cognitive status.
Implements care in a knowledgeable, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner by utilization of/adherence to pre-determined procedures, policies and care plans.
Identifies patient/significant other learning needs, readiness for learning, and implements patient teaching as defined by policy and care plans.
Documents in patient’s chart, via electronic medical records and/or paper processes, per policy and in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient/significant other and family rights, as identified by Samaritan Healthcare regardless of race, age, religion, color, creed, sex, national origin, or any other classification protected by law; and regardless of ability to pay.
Demonstrates appropriate delegation of patient care activities.
Functions effectively to supervise assigned coworkers.
Demonstrates effective organization and priority setting utilizing sound critical thinking.
Demonstrates appropriate use of lines of authority.
May be required to function as a Charge Nurse to include: Delegation of patient assignment/re-assignment; assists/informs with admits, discharges, and transfers; coordinates staff coverage for breaks; helps staff problem-solve; serves as a lead for unit.
Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
Functions with awareness of/adherence to safety requirements. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.
Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures as well as labor agreements.
Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization’s values.
Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required, by management be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.
