About The Position

Longview Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for their Rehabilitation Unit. This PRN position involves providing direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment. The nurse will perform interventions, administer medications, collect specimens, provide treatments, document patient care, monitor patient conditions, assist patients with daily living activities, collaborate with other disciplines, and educate patients and families. The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific and cultural needs, ensuring quality of care by measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards. They will also coordinate patient care delivery for the Rehab Unit, facilitate problem-solving with staff, and communicate issues to nursing administration and the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree Required
  • Graduate of a Credited Nursing Program
  • Current RN to practice in the state of Texas
  • American Heart Association BCLS
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Rehab experience required

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for a given population based upon age specific and cultural needs.
  • Assures quality of care by measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital philosophies and standards of care set by Texas State Board of Nursing, and other governing agency regulations.
  • Coordinates the delivery of patient care for the Rehab Unit, facilitates problem solving with staff members and communicates necessary issues to nursing administration and the Program Manager.
