About The Position

The Registered Nurse Rapid Response position functions as the hospital-wide SWAT Nurse, responding to patient care units to handle urgent or emergency patient care needs. This role provides emergency response based on specific unit needs, patient activity, and intermittent crisis situations.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current license to practice in the state of Michigan.
• ACLS certification.
• BLS certification.
• Five (5) years’ experience in a critical care/ER setting.

Nice To Haves

• CCRN certification.
• TNCC certification.
• Ultrasound Guided IV insertion experience.

Responsibilities

• Responds to medical emergency problems including Code Blue’s, Rapid Responses, and Code MTP’s.
• Supports floor staff with concerns regarding patient decline/clinical assessment.
• Quickly assesses patients with a change in status and provides monitoring and intervention.
• Accompanies Critical Care patients during intra-hospital transports (e.g., MRI, diagnostic tests, IR, ER to ICU).
• Assists floor staff with difficult IV starts and utilizes ultrasound-guided IV placement as needed.
• Participates in quality outcomes specific to units or the hospital and adheres to all regulatory requirements.
• Maintains a collaborative relationship with multiple disciplines within the organization.
• Actively participates in the Code Blue Committee, including performing audits and action plans.
