Registered Nurse - Radiology, Per Diem Days
About The Position
Plans and implements professional nursing care for patients in accordance with hospital policies. Assumes charge nurse responsibilities as assigned. Radiology Nurses operate an 8-bay prep and recovery unit providing direct patient care before, during, and after diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology procedures. Our department provides care for adult, geriatric and pediatric populations. Outpatient pediatric services are currently limited to MRI sedations and managed by a Pediatric Intensivist and 2 PALS certified Radiology Nurses. Adult/ Geriatric Patient ratio 1:2; Pediatric Patient ratio 1:1. Our Care Team consists of Radiologists, Pediatric Intensivists, Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses, Nursing Supervisor, Technologists, Access Coordinators and Unit Manager. Self-directed scheduling; Weekend & Holiday Call Rotation 7 am- 7 p.m.
Requirements
- Associates Degree in Nursing or equivalent required
- Current licensure in North Carolina as a Registered Nurse or Compact state licensure
- Greater than one year of experience in ICU, Med-Surg, critical care, or emergency department is required
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
- Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills
- Verbal and written skills required
- Demonstrates effective organizational and leadership skills
- Has knowledge of the age-specific physiological and psychosocial, developmental and spiritual needs of the patients typically served
- Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patient needs
- Visual acuity for observation of patients
- Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting
- May involve skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact with blood or other potentially infectious material
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds
- BLS - American Heart Association
- RN - Board Of Nursing
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
- One year -or greater- of Radiology experience preferred
- PALS preferred
Responsibilities
- Assesses the patient and identifies patient care needs
- Uses patient assessment information to organize appropriate patient care
- Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates patient care

- Actively participates in cost containment and assists in accurate charging for patient services
- Adjusts care based upon age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs of patients
- Supports patients in the practice of their cultural and spiritual beliefs within limits of medical regimen
- Other duties as assigned
