About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Psychiatric Assessment Services, working night shifts. This role is based in Nashville, Tennessee, and is part of a community dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. The position involves applying the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including education and continuum of care planning. The nurse will communicate effectively with the healthcare team, collaborate on patient goals, and evaluate progress. The role also requires continuous professional growth in line with Board of Nursing standards. The unit is a fast-paced psychiatric emergency room caring for adult patients (18+) with behavioral health crisis needs, and is also responsible for admissions to Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital (VPH) from various referral sources.

Requirements

At least 1 year of RN experience
Nursing degree
State or Compact License (TN license within 60 days of getting TN address even if compact license)
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program

Responsibilities

Applies the nursing process to plan and implement the care of patients, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning.
Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team.
Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
Furthers professional growth by engaging in learning activities according to the Board of Nursing standards.
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care, coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patient's care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patient's progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.
