Registered Nurse - Psych
About The Position
We are seeking experienced Psychiatric/Behavioral Health Registered Nurses (RNs) for a 13-week travel assignment at a leading behavioral health facility in Alabama. This is a great opportunity for nurses who thrive in structured, team-based environments and are confident managing complex patient behaviors. This assignment offers the chance to work in a highly structured behavioral health setting, gain experience with complex and diverse patient populations, enjoy consistent 8-hour shifts without flip-flopping schedules, and benefit from strong clinical support and a team environment.
Requirements
- Active RN license (AL or compact)
- Minimum 1–2 years of recent psych/behavioral health experience
- BLS certification (AHA) required
- Strong communication and crisis management skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience with acute psych, forensic, or inpatient behavioral health strongly preferred
- CPI or de-escalation training preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor mental status, and document changes
- Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
- Implement and support individualized care plans and behavioral interventions
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, including de-escalation when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (psychiatrists, therapists, social workers)
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory standards
