About The Position

An opportunity is available for a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role requires a commitment to patient care and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment. The unit has 40 beds with an average daily census of 24. Nurse ratios are 1:4-5 on both days and nights. Common diagnoses include adults with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory problems, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure. Titration of drips is required for medications including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin. Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs are available with ratios of 1:12 for support. RT Equipment includes vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry strips. A Charge Nurse is present on each shift and takes an assignment. Additional equipment features overhead lifts in half of the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners.

Requirements

  • Valid RN license
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification
  • NIHSS certification
  • Proficient in managing arterial lines
  • Driver's license required for verification purposes regarding distance from the facility.
  • Maintain professionalism as per policies regarding artificial nails.

Responsibilities

  • Titration of drips for medications including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
  • Reading and interpreting telemetry strips.
  • Managing patients with cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular issues, sepsis, adult respiratory problems, stroke, post-stent, post-pacer placement, and renal failure.
  • Utilizing RT equipment including vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow oxygen.
  • Operating overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, and bladder scanners.
  • Potential to float to MedSurg or ICU for PCU acuity patients.
