Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. This role focuses on increasing the quality of care and quality of life for the patient, family, and significant other(s) by systematically evaluating the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice. The nurse establishes effective relationships and serves as an advocate, developing care plans unique to each patient's needs. The position utilizes the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes, considering various dimensions of human responses to health problems. It also involves leadership skills for collaboration with patients, families, and inter-professional teams, and effective communication for collaborative decision-making that is culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate, and humane. The nurse educates patients and families on health promotion and maintenance, and fosters a healthy work environment by serving as a mentor and role model. Application of evidence-based practice and scientific knowledge is essential, ensuring age-specific and clinical needs are met. The role requires a constant state of alertness and safe practice, and may involve point-of-care testing. Other duties as assigned.
