Requirements

  • Must possess a current license in good standing as a Registered Nurse in a state with compact privileges.
  • Basic computer skills are a must.
  • MUST BE AVAILABLE 24/7
  • Must have an Associates or Bachelors degree in nursing.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs nursing care for the residents in accordance with established philosophies.
  • Relates effectively with other shifts for continuity of care.
  • Maintains satisfactory relations with other departments.
  • Participates in all phases of education and the maintenance of records.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of growth and development issues about the populations under their care.
  • Demonstrates an understanding as well as an ability to work within the specific milieu of the population under their care.
  • Assists in the management of aggressive residents as needed, using only de-escalation and behavior management techniques approved by New Hope Treatment Centers.
  • Provides documentation in the clinical record of resident behavior and interventions.
  • Administration of prescribed medications and treatments within the scope of practice.
  • Performs assessments and medical needs at intake.
  • Coordinates medical areas of discharge process.
  • Adheres to standing orders for admission procedures and the administration of over-the-counter medications as needed.
  • Reports the medical needs of residents to the physician and coordinates medical care required.
  • Responsible for nurse case management duties.
  • Oversees through completion, nursing assessment and lab work within required time frames of admission.
  • Participates and acts as contributing members of multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Schedules and coordinates medical appointments.
  • Generating and reviewing monthly Medication Administration Records.
  • Matching physician’s orders to the medication administration records.
  • Observing employees supervising self-administration of medications at least quarterly.
  • Assisting interdisciplinary teams to develop educational goals for children taking regularly prescribed medications and participating in a supervised self-administration protocol.
  • Instructing employees in dietary or medication administration issues as necessary.
  • Responding to emergency calls from employees on medical issues.
  • Conducting ongoing assessments of each child’s health needs to include existing medical conditions, dietary issues and medications.
  • Training & Directing AMAP Staff.
