Patient Care: Assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery. Ensure that operative and informed consents are signed and correct. Initiate IV’s and ensure patients are informed about the procedure. Knowledge and understanding of the peri-operative process to ensure patient safety including tenets of patient advocacy, environmental control, efficient allocation of resources, maintenance of asepsis, integration and coordination of care, and collaboration with peers. Possess a working knowledge of aseptic technique and its application to reduce occurrence of nosocomial infection by directing attention to infection control measures and environmental safety practices. Has a working knowledge of the physiological and anatomical aspects of procedural intervention as performed in an outpatient setting. Continuously observe and record vital signs like heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation post anesthesia. Monitor measurement of progress and observe readiness for discharge. Administer medications to alleviate pain and discomfort per MD orders. Evaluate patients for signs of complications related to anesthesia or surgery. Participation in family teaching. Be familiar and enforce all standards of care necessary to maintain accreditation. Present a professional and caring attitude to patients and peers. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain confidentiality of patients. Maintaining and Entering accurate data into electronic health records (EHRs) Conduct count of controlled substances consistent with applicable regulations and internal policy. Proficient with patient pictures for before & after treatments Maintain accurate records of patient status, interventions, and observations. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborating with medical staff respectfully. Recognize and use proper lines of communication. Participate in training, orientation, and staff development programs. Working with physicians, other nurses, and support staff to coordinate care. Assume responsibility for creating a safe therapeutic environment in which the patient's psychological, physiological and physical needs are identified, anticipated, and met. Other Responsibilities: Assure patient and employee safety by following all facility rules and regulations. Addressing any personal safety issues and assuring a safe physical environment for all.
