About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking a Registered Nurse PRN (as needed) for its Occupational Health Outreach Staff. This role involves performing professional duties in developing and delivering occupational health nursing services, assisting in planning, implementing, and evaluating health maintenance and education programs. The nurse will contribute to designing health controls and surveillance for toxic or hazardous work environments. Key responsibilities include screening new hires for immunizations, administering necessary vaccines during orientation, participating in other immunization events, and drawing blood. Experience in phlebotomy or prior Occupational Health experience is highly desired. The position requires travel to other facilities across the Vanderbilt Health campus.

  • LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure-Others
  • Relevant Work Experience
  • Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
  • Experience drawing blood and/or prior Occupational Health experience is highly desired.
  • Travel to other facilities across the Vanderbilt Health campus is necessary for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of professional duties involved in developing and delivering occupational health nursing services.
  • Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluating health maintenance and health education programs.
  • Contributes to the design of health controls and surveillance relative to toxic or hazardous conditions in the work environment.
  • Screens new hires for needed immunizations at orientation and administers necessary immunizations.
  • Participates in other scheduled immunization events.
  • Assists in planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating occupational health and health promotions programs.
  • Provides on-site care to employees within the guidelines of written medical orders and manages chronic health care of employees.
  • Develops and/or maintains and audits employee health records to ensure continuity of care, employee confidentiality and feedback to management.
  • Assists in evaluating the occupational health and safety programs of Vanderbilt and recommends changes in policies, procedures, or programs.
  • Provides individual counseling sessions to employees on health maintenance, results of health screenings and health promotion activities.
  • Provides pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening of employees as requested by client companies.
  • Recommends, purchases, and maintains medical supplies and equipment necessary for the optimal functioning of the occupational health service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
