About The Position

The Registered Professional Nurse cares for patients by diagnosing and treating actual or potential health problems in the ambulatory setting through implementation of the nursing process. This role involves coordinating care with other disciplines, delegating tasks to nursing staff, supervising care, and evaluating outcomes. The nurse is expected to maintain clinical competence and contribute to the development of nursing practice standards.

Requirements

  • License to practice in New York State.
  • Completion of a variable orientation, duration of 4-6 weeks.
  • Registered Nurse is expected to complete a variable orientation, duration of 4-6 weeks.

  • Ambulatory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete patient/family assessment using subjective and objective data sources.
  • Develop a Nursing Care Plan (NCP) based on patient assessment, with attention to developmental stages.
  • Deliver patient care based on the Nursing Care Plan.
  • Evaluate patient care.
  • Effectively communicate the patient's plan of care to all members of the health care team.
  • Provide patient education focusing on wellness, health maintenance, and restoration.
  • Assume responsibility for education and self-development.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures outlined in the Exposure Control Manual regarding universal precautions, bloodborne pathogens, disposal of needles, syringes, and sharps, cleanup procedures for blood and body fluid spills, and storage, handling, and disposal of medical waste.
  • Utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing tasks with potential occupational risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens, including but not limited to gloves, gown, goggles, laboratory coat, face shields, or masks.
