About The Position

The Primary Care Resource Team provides flexible staffing support to Primary Care locations across Rochester and Kasson. Team members conduct virtual and in-person Medicare Annual Wellness Visits, administer immunizations, and support School-Located Immunization Program (SLIP) sites and After Visit Care (AVC) settings. This role may also involve virtual infectious disease response. Nurses utilize the electronic health record, apply nursing protocols, and perform patient assessments via in-person, video, or phone consultations. Responsibilities include administering injections and providing care to patients across the lifespan. The registered nurse (RN) is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care, supporting professional nursing practice and the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model. The RN functions within the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, provides leadership through preceptor roles and quality improvement efforts, and delegates patient care appropriately. Excellent communication, mentoring, and teaching skills are essential. Some employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship and welcomes F1 visa holders eligible for post-completion OPT, but is not eligible for the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
  • One year of RN experience required.
  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
  • All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Computer skills required.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting.
  • Demonstrated leadership, effective communicator, and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Current RN license per applicable state requirements.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post-start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
  • Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
  • Completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification (for sponsorship).

Responsibilities

  • Complete virtual and in-person Medicare Annual Wellness Visits (AWVs).
  • Administer immunizations at seasonal mass vaccination clinics for employees and primary care patients.
  • Support School-Located Immunization Program (SLIP) sites and After Visit Care (AVC) settings.
  • Participate in virtual infectious disease response work.
  • Use the electronic health record, apply nursing protocols, and complete patient assessments in person, by video visit, or over the phone.
  • Administer injections and provide care to pediatric and adult patients across the lifespan.
  • Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
  • Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care.
  • Function within the Mayo Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care.
  • Provide leadership through activities such as preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and availability of resources.
  • Participate on committees or projects.
  • Drive personal vehicle as part of role responsibilities (for a subset of employees).
