RN - Pre/Post/PACU Surgery

About The Position

This role involves delivering comprehensive perioperative and peri anesthesia care across several surgical specialties, including ENT, Cataracts, Pain, Hand, Foot, Ortho (scopes), General, and some GYN. The nurse will prepare surgical patients for surgery, which includes managing Perioperative Checklists, IV placement, and Medication Administration. The position also entails providing care in the Outpatient PACU and developing therapeutic relationships to ensure patients and their families understand post-surgical care and discharge instructions. This is a 70% FTE position with Monday-Friday, 8-hour day/evening shifts, with no holidays, weekends, on-call, or overnights. Hours may vary based on departmental needs. The role is located at the Madison Surgery Center in Madison, WI.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) Required
  • 6 months of RN experience Required
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state(s) where patients are receiving care or may work as eligible per state licensing regulations Upon Hire Required
  • Basic Life Support/CPR Upon Hire Required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
  • Experience working pre/post operatively with varied surgical patient populations Preferred
  • Emergency nursing, critical care, medical/surgical, or ambulatory surgery center experience Preferred
  • Moderate sedation and cardiac monitoring experience Preferred
  • 1 year or more of RN experience Preferred
  • Critical care experience preferred

Responsibilities
