Nebraska Methodist Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Pre-Op department. Requirements

Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college of nursing required OR obtained within 5 years from date of hire for nurses with an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
For MJE Progressive Care: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school of nursing preferred, graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
Successful completion of annual mandatory education requirements.
For NMH Critical Care & MJE Progressive Care: NIH Stroke Scale training or proof of training required in the first 6 months of hire.
For MJE Progressive Care: Successful completion of Telemetry Cardiac Rhythm Course.
NMH Surgery Pre Op Services: 1 to 2 years nursing experience.
Surgery OP Support HW: Minimum 2 years related experience in RN role.
Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure.
Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS).
NMH Surgery Pre Op Services: ACLS required within 3 months of hire.
Surgery OP Support HW: ACLS required within 6 months of hire.
MJE Progressive Care: ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
MFH Radiology Diagnostics: ACLS required within 3 months of hire.
Strong interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate and interact with patients, family members, hospital personnel, and co-workers.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize work assignments.
Ability to learn, retain, and utilize computer skills that are required for department and hospital information system.

Nice To Haves

Certification(s) in area of specialty preferred from National Certification Corporation (NCC) within 1 year of eligibility.
NMH Cardiac Unit: Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).
NMH Cardiovascular Surgery: Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).
NMH Progressive Care Unit 4: Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN) or Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).
Surgery Outpatient HW: Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR).
NMH Progressive Care: Gerontological Nursing (GERO.BC) and Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).
NMH Surgery GI Lab: Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN).
NMH PACU: Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN)
NMH Cath Lab: Cardiovascular Registered Nurse (CV.BC) within 3 years of hire.
NMH Critical Care: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
NMH Radiology Surgical: Experience in surgical environment.
MWH Repro Endo Infert: Pre/post operative and circulating experience.
MPC Colon & Rectal Surgery ASC: Acute care or surgical nursing experience.
MJE Cardiopulmonary Rehab: 1 year of telemetry experience.
MFH Radiology Diagnostics: Pre/post operative and circulating experience.

Responsibilities

Provide appropriate care specific to the age of the customer/patient, ensuring understanding and comfort level of treatment.
Perform initial and ongoing assessments to determine patient's nursing care needs, prioritizing data collection and including patient/significant other input.
Develop, review, revise, and individualize the plan of care, collaborating with providers and other disciplines, and providing patient-specific health education.
Implement interventions consistent with the plan of care, adhering to nursing protocols, standards of care, and current nursing knowledge.
Evaluate patient care effectiveness, monitor outcomes, document patient response, and assess patient/significant other's ability to manage care post-discharge.
Perform technical skills competently and independently, ensuring patient safety and demonstrating correct and safe technique in equipment use.
Maintain professional behavior, communicate effectively, and contribute to a clean and organized work environment.
Initiate actions to correct, prevent, or minimize risks to patients, families, or employees, completing appropriate reports for any risks.
Review, delegate, and evaluate plans for appropriate utilization of staff, ensuring tasks are within scope of practice and assigned to the right person with clear communication.
Be fiscally accountable for human and other resources, and accurately charge for supplies and equipment.
