About The Position

The Registered Nurse in Pre Procedure Services will conduct patient interviews via telephone prior to scheduled surgeries to obtain and share procedural information and directions. This role provides patient education via telephone related to upcoming surgery, informs the patient of the pre-anesthetic evaluation process, and collaborates closely with the Anesthesia provider team. The nurse ensures required pre-surgical testing is completed prior to the patient's surgical appointment, integrates research findings into nursing practice, and works cohesively with related nursing areas prior to the surgical procedure. They maintain knowledge of nursing procedures specific to different service lines and current standards of nursing practice, while promoting hospital quality improvement goals. The nurse independently provides safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care, utilizes the nursing process, guides unlicensed assistive personnel, and collaborates with the healthcare team for optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care. This role positively contributes to safety outcomes and promotes a high-quality patient experience.

Requirements

  • Current professional Nursing Licensure in the State of IL required
  • Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required
  • BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required
  • Minimum of 5 years-experience in peri anesthesia (PAT, Pre-op, PACU/Phase 2)

Nice To Haves

  • BSN strongly preferred
  • Strong background in Pre-admission testing strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in EPIC Application

  • Guide and direct assigned unlicensed assistive personnel in delivering interdisciplinary patient care
  • Communicate and collaborate with members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care
  • Positively contributing to safety outcomes and promoting high quality patient experience
