About The Position

Baylor Scott & White Temple is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Postpartum Department. This is a full-time night shift position on a 24-bed Level 4 Maternity Care Unit. Our team provides exceptional care for mothers and newborns after delivery. Here at Baylor Scott & White Health we promote the well-being of all individuals, families, and communities. As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. You will secure patient travel, understand patient needs in healthcare, help patients, and prevent issues. You will follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies.

Requirements

  • A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.
  • Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
  • Understanding of hospital procedures and rules.
  • Proficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and their side effects.
  • Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.
  • Exceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.
  • Basic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
  • Graduation from an Accredited RN Program.
  • Specialized field of study should be nursing.
  • RN license.
  • Must have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.
  • 1 year of RN experience in Postpartum or Labor and Delivery required.

  • Assess and document learning needs regularly.
  • Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan.
  • Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.
  • Use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff.
  • Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.
