About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Post-Op unit, also known as Post Operative or Med Surg Stepdown, located in Lafayette, LA. The role involves utilizing the nursing process for patient care, assessing learning needs and implementing teaching strategies, and effectively managing nursing team resources. The nurse will serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team, using data to drive improvements and enhance patient outcomes. Additionally, the role requires adapting care to specific patient populations, respecting privacy, and communicating effectively. The position also includes performing other related duties as required.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Experience in perioperative, surgery, OR, PACU, Pain Management

Responsibilities

Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serves as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.
Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improvement in the profession of nursing.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
Performs other related duties as required.
