Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (Per Diem)
About The Position
Hartford Hospital, a Level 1 Trauma Center and part of Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network, is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This 28-bed unit provides care for patients recovering from various surgical services, including general surgery, urology, gynecology, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, thoracic and vascular surgery, cardiac procedures (TAVR), bariatric surgery, colorectal surgery, ENT and OMF surgery. The PACU also manages recovery for advanced GI procedures and outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients. This is a fast-paced, 24/7 unit receiving patients from over 40 operating rooms. The role involves recovering patients from anesthesia, managing postoperative care, and a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2. We are looking for candidates with a positive outlook, an open mind, and a “can-do” attitude.
Requirements
- Current Connecticut RN License
- Graduate of an accredited nursing school
- BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire
- ACLS certification is required for external candidates
Nice To Haves
- ICU experience is preferred
- BSN Preferred
Responsibilities
- Recovering patients from anesthesia
- Managing postoperative care, including recovery from general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and IV sedation
- Providing service to a variety of surgical services
- Managing the recovery of GI advanced procedure patients as well as outpatient colonoscopy and endoscopy patients
- Caring for ICU and step-down patients
