About The Position

Sentara Obici Hospital is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in Suffolk, VA. This is an 8 Bay Unit that recovers patients from the OR, Endo, Cath, and IVR. The position involves an 8-hour shift, 5 days a week, with on-call duties including 2 overnights per pay period, 2 weekends in a row with 12 weekends off, and one holiday per year. Sentara Obici Hospital is a 175-bed state-of-the-art facility recognized as an accredited Primary Stroke Center and a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence. It specializes in various services including orthopedic and spine, heart and vascular, advanced imaging, gynecological and comprehensive breast services, behavioral health, maternity, weight loss surgery, and a heartburn treatment center. Requirements

  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • ACLS required within 1 year of hire.
  • PALS within 1 year of hire.
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
  • 1-2 years of clinical nursing experience in acute care nursing (preferred)
  • PACU/Procedural experience highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process.
  • Adhere to the standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, teaching and health promotion, and evaluation.
  • Uphold the standards of professional performance including ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice/nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health.
