Requirements

Current or temporary license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Arizona
Current Negative TB skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last twelve months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from Tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or Tuberculosis
Must be able to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
Current CPR card that was obtained by physical assessment
Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment.

Practices and procedures of team nursing
Practices and procedures for implementing treatment plans for resident/patient care
Practices and procedures of pharmacology and medicines
Federal, State and agency laws, rules and regulations governing general practical nursing practices and the security and control of medical supplies and medications and dispensing thereof

Observing and assessing behavior and progress of residents/patients
Appling and interpreting State and agency laws and regulations governing geriatric nursing practices
Developing and implementing patient care plans within a team nursing concept

Responsibilities

Administer medication and perform treatments on an assigned unit, as ordered by the physician and within scope of license
Receives and delivers a variety of information regarding resident medical, social, functional and other needs
Communicates with residents, family, and staff as necessary to ensure the resident receives appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team
Performs the initial admission nursing assessment on a newly admitted resident
Assists with the development of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans
Maintains appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnosis, assessments, treatment, and summary of client progress
Leads and performs limited supervision of subordinate staff and assists as needed with direct resident care for the completion of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, personal hygiene mobility
Conducts and participates in training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff and other duties as assigned
Work one weekend (Saturday or Sunday) shift per month, two additional shifts per month, and one state service holiday per year
Participate in one hour of in-service training per month
