We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Part-Time Registered Nurse (RN) to provide high quality perioperative and office-based nursing care in an outpatient surgical setting at our clinic in Chesterton, IN. This role supports physicians, medical assistants, and patients through pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases, while ensuring compassionate, safe, and efficient care.

Requirements

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensed in the State of Indiana.
2 to 5 years of experience in perioperative nursing, including pretesting, pre-operative, and post-operative care.
Demonstrated experience starting IVs and working in an office and/or OR setting.
BLS and ACLS certification.
Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, anesthesia, and perioperative nursing protocols.
Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and medical software.
Detailed oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients and their families.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and clinical staff.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

Provide comfort, reassurance, and compassionate nursing care while supporting patients’ rights to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality.
Perform thorough pre-operative patient assessments in an outpatient setting.
Provide safe, individualized nursing care in the immediate post-operative/post-anesthesia period.
Conduct thorough post-operative assessments prior to patient discharge.
Deliver clear and effective discharge education to patients and caregivers.
Provide nursing care to meet patient needs related to surgical condition and type of anesthesia administered.
Start and manage IVs and assist physicians in the office and OR setting.
Take vitals, collect patient history, and respond to patient questions or concerns.
Work closely with physicians and medical assistant staff to coordinate patient care.
Accurately and promptly document all aspects of patient care in the electronic medical records (EMR) system.
Assist with managing inventory of supplies, medications, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the postoperative area.
Confirm that proper techniques and procedures are followed according to accepted standards of nursing practice.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission, values, and strategies of CPIhealth.
