About The Position

The RN Outpatient works under the supervision of leadership. The RN Outpatient performs patient assessment and follows established standards and practices for nursing care. May delegate responsibilities and provide clinical oversight to other unlicensed nursing staff. May be required to work in other areas according to skill of staff and acuity of patients. Provides exceptional service to all patients and customers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a school of nursing - Required
  • 1 Year - Nursing experience - Required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - State Licensure/Or Compact State Licensure - State Licensure/Or Compact State Licensure in state, depending upon designated work location - Required within 90 Days
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required within 90 Days
  • Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed. - Required
  • Must demonstrate precise eye/hand coordination and fine motor skills for IV procedures and ability to give injections, administer medications, change dressings, perform blood pressure checks, and assist with medical procedures; answer phone, data entry.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to patients, providers and staff.
  • Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written.
  • Must walk, move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift, speak clearly.
  • Must follow good body mechanics.
  • Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient's condition and evaluate effects of care.
  • Problem solve, manipulate numbers, adaptability, interpret data, calculate, comprehend, understand, explain, assess, evaluate short term and long-term memory.
  • Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care.
  • Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.
  • Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, blood and body fluids, needle sticks and other conditions common to a medical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and prepares patient for provider examination and treatment.
  • Performs general nursing care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Assists provider with procedures and properly maintains equipment before and after procedures.
  • Engages in patient/family teaching to achieve the desired patient outcome.
  • Review medical charts for completeness.
  • Documents all medications, refills, telephone conversations and patient visits in the medical record.
  • Monitors the scheduling of patients, answers patient inquiries, and maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Completes assessment/reassessment of patient and documents in medical record.
  • Maintains working knowledge of and implements key standards that effect operation of patient population served.
  • Contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others (example: students, orientees).
  • Other duties as assigned
