The Registered Nurse (RN) in Perianesthesia plays a pivotal role in providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the nursing process. This involves delivering safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures. The RN utilizes evidence-based practice, clinical decision-making, compassion, and communication skills to lead efforts in creating the safest patient environment and the best patient experience across the continuum of care. The Perianesthesia department at ABMC operates in two locations within the hospital: East (first floor) and Main (second floor). Each unit functions independently, delivering comprehensive care across all three phases: Preoperative, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and Discharge. The multidisciplinary team includes RNs, CNAs, and LPNs, collaborating with physicians and Anesthesia providers to ensure exceptional and compassionate care throughout the surgical and procedural journey.
