About The Position

AMI Expeditionary Healthcare is seeking experienced Pediatric Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide inpatient nursing support at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, Maryland. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality care to infants, children, and adolescents with acute, chronic, and complex medical needs while working alongside a collaborative, interdisciplinary healthcare team. The Pediatric RN will provide comprehensive inpatient nursing care, closely monitor patient conditions, respond to changes in clinical status, and support patients and their families throughout their care experience.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of current pediatric acute-care hospital experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree, associate degree, or diploma in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • Successful completion of the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN)
  • Current, unrestricted RN license in at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Strong pediatric assessment and clinical nursing skills
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patient care responsibilities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to successfully complete the AMI credentialing process

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents with acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions, including ongoing assessment, monitoring, and timely response to changes in clinical status or emergencies.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and prescribed treatments in accordance with pediatric dosing, medication safety standards, and established clinical protocols.
  • Perform pediatric nursing interventions, including IV therapy, specimen collection, wound care, oxygen therapy, patient monitoring, and assistance with procedures and diagnostic testing.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other interdisciplinary healthcare professionals to coordinate care, admissions, transfers, and discharges while maintaining accurate and timely electronic health record documentation.
  • Educate and support patients and families, promote patient safety and dignity, follow infection prevention practices, and maintain compliance with NIH policies, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable clinical standards.
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.
