About The Position

We are seeking one experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse to provide safe, compassionate care at the NIH Clinical Center. This is a 13-week contract assignment with the possibility of a long-term or permanent full-time opportunity based on performance and continued staffing needs.

Requirements

  • Active, valid, and unrestricted RN license issued by at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth
  • Associate degree, nursing diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
  • Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN
  • Two to three years of current pediatric acute-care hospital experience
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification
  • ACLS certification if required by the client
  • Demonstrated current competency in pediatric nursing
  • Effective English communication skills
  • Computer literacy and proficiency with electronic clinical documentation
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident/Green Card status
  • Selected candidates must satisfy NIH credentialing, health, immunization, security, fingerprinting, background-investigation, and facility-access requirements.
  • All required licenses, certifications, competencies, and health documentation must remain current throughout the assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate age-appropriate nursing care for pediatric patients
  • Monitor patient condition and promptly respond to clinical changes or emergencies
  • Administer medications, fluids, blood products, and treatments as ordered and within the RN’s authorized scope of practice
  • Calculate and verify weight-based medication dosages
  • Maintain pediatric safety, infection-control, and emergency-response precautions
  • Provide developmentally appropriate support to patients
  • Educate and support parents, guardians, and family members
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, support personnel, and other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • Follow NIH clinical protocols, patient-safety requirements, and professional standards
  • Participate in required orientation, training, and competency activities
  • Float to another area when needed, provided the assignment is within the RN’s demonstrated competency and scope of practice
