This position involves performing daily nursing functions in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines. The role requires ensuring all nursing personnel comply with policies and procedures, managing resident admissions, transfers, and discharges with appropriate documentation, and participating in resident and family orientation. The nurse will conduct rounds with healthcare providers, utilize nursing personnel qualifications based on resident care plans and provider orders, and complete daily clinical and environmental rounds to evaluate care and report significant events. The role also includes resolving issues with residents and families, participating in facility surveys, and potentially managing clinical programs such as dementia care, wound care, quality assurance, infection control, and admissions. The nurse will be responsible for completing initial assessments, developing interim care plans, updating and reviewing care plans based on nursing needs and new orders, and assisting with service plans as directed. Communication with healthcare providers to review treatment plans, complete orders, and document progress is essential. The nurse will review resident medical records for treatments, medications, diets, and labs, arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services, and communicate facility policies to personnel, residents, and visitors. They will provide shift reports to nursing management, complete accident/incident reports, and ensure accurate medical record documentation. The role involves reviewing interdisciplinary team progress notes to ensure care plan adherence, informing nursing personnel of new admissions and their needs, preparing rooms for new admissions, and greeting new residents. The nurse will notify healthcare practitioners and families of changes in resident condition, assist with arranging transportation and other services, prepare and administer medications, ensure adequate supplies, review medication administration records for accuracy, and dispose of drugs and narcotics according to procedures. Additionally, the RN will supervise their nursing unit to ensure staff perform assignments to standards, work with the Director of Nursing to resolve performance issues, and review complaints and grievances. The role requires ensuring protective equipment is available for staff, maintaining clean and sanitary work areas, resident rooms, and treatment areas, and recommending equipment and supply needs. The nurse must be able to make independent decisions, follow instructions, deal tactfully with various individuals, and work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people. Effective communication skills are necessary for interacting with supervisors, team members, prospects, residents, and families. The position requires meeting all applicable state and federal requirements and holding a current, unencumbered, active RN license in good standing. One year of nursing experience in home care, assisted living, or long-term care is preferred. While the RN supervises resident care provided by CNAs/Caregivers, these individuals do not directly report to the RN. Tasks may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals. Physical requirements include walking long distances, standing for extended periods, sustaining repetitive movements, maintaining physical tolerance for 8-12 hour shifts with minimal breaks, and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. Cognitive requirements include executing tasks independently and communicating clearly and effectively, with general computer literacy. Environmental requirements include exposure to ambient room temperatures and lighting. Employees are expected to follow all policies and procedures.
