More about our team Our Pediatrics Department is a close-knit 6-bed unit with a favorable 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio. Our patients primarily include infants with hyperbilirubinemia, post‑op tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy cases, and low‑acuity respiratory conditions. During periods of low census, Pediatric RNs may also care for post‑op GYN and mother/baby patients—offering variety and expanded experience.

Requirements

  • Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
  • Associate’s degree in nursing required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support
  • American Heart Association ACLS within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association required, or within six (6) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience in acute care hospital, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
  • Ability to formulate an individualized plan of care, revise plan as indicated by the patient's response to treatment, and evaluate overall plan daily for effectiveness
  • Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, provider, patient and family following chain of command as appropriate
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support needs
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient protecting the patient's rights.
