About The Position

This opportunity is located in Northern Arizona, in Chinle, AZ, an area rich in Native American culture and natural beauty, situated near Canyon de Chelly National Monument. The role involves alleviating a healthcare shortage in an underserved region where Navajo and Hope populations experience higher rates of chronic health conditions. The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) is a 60-bed hospital serving approximately 37,000 active users, with a diverse medical staff. The facility is located on the Colorado Plateau, offering excellent outdoor recreational opportunities. The community has strong Navajo cultural traditions, providing opportunities to learn the Navajo language and traditional medicine.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing program.
  • A minimum of 36 months of nursing experience, with at least 12 months in Pediatrics.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. Territory.

Responsibilities

  • Performs nursing tasks and manages patient needs as directed by the Service Unit and supervisor.
  • Delivers individualized, goal-oriented nursing care to pediatric patients using the nursing process.
  • Plans and provides quality nursing care, incorporating scientific and psychosocial principles to address the holistic needs of patients.
  • Analyzes results of medical procedures to determine and implement appropriate nursing interventions.
  • Performs clinical procedures, including IV access, phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, medication administration, and responding to emergency codes.
  • Collaborates effectively with care teams, offering guidance and coordinating patient flow in the outpatient unit.
  • Educates staff, patients, and families on health-related topics.
  • Administers and monitors pediatric immunizations and provides up-to-date patient education.
