About The Position

Utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; performs nursing care for patients with more complex needs with assistance and supervision. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. The Pediatric Interventional Cardiology Lab at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital consists of the Cath Lab where patients undergo cardiac catheterization procedures. This is done with diagnostic imaging equipment to visualize the arteries and chambers of the heart to treat any abnormality found. The Pediatric Interventional Cardiology lab also consists of the EP Lab where cardiac electrophysiology studies are performed. An EP study is an invasive procedure that tests the electrical conduction system of the heart to assess the electrical activity and conduction pathways of the heart. This position is to support our patients pre and post procedure and to prepare them for transfer to our in-patient area/s or home.
