About The Position

This is a 90% FTE position for a Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) / Cardiovascular Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) at American Family Children’s Hospital in Madison, WI. The shift is evening/night, from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with a rotation including weekends and holidays. Hours may vary based on departmental needs. This role involves providing family-centered care to critically ill or injured children and their families in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit. Responsibilities include comprehensive care for patients with a wide variety of medical and surgical problems such as acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplantation, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO. The position also focuses on providing high-quality care to complex cardiac conditions, including congenital heart defects, Ventricular Assisted Devices, and heart transplants.

Requirements

Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of WI or holds a license issued by a jurisdiction that has adopted the nurse licensure compact Upon Hire
Current CPR/BLS Certification Upon Hire
PALS within 6 months

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) Preferred
Six (6) months nursing experience or current participant in UW Health’s Nurse Residency Program with successful completion of the Nurse Residency Orientation on unit/similar unit.
Relevant RN Experience Preferred
Relevant certification Preferred
