About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for the assessment, management, and treatment of patients with a variety of conditions that require continuous monitoring and care. Working in a mixed acuity unit, the nurse will handle direct admits, ED admits, and post-procedural patients including those recovering from cardiac events.

Requirements

• 1.5 years of general nursing experience and 1 year specific to PCU.
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Registered Nurse (RN) license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• Experience with cardiac procedural recovery and MI pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in a mixed acuity environment with Intermediate Care, Tele, and MedSurg patients.
• Manage patients with cardiac conditions including MI, NSTEMI, CHF, and dysrhythmia.
• Handle post-operative and post-procedural patients including CABG, TAVR, cardiac cath, and pacemaker insertion.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including CNAs, phlebotomists, and respiratory therapists.
