About The Position

Baptist Health is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team at Baptist Nassau in Fernandina Beach, FL. This is a full-time day shift opportunity. The PACU team at Baptist Nassau provides high-quality, patient-centered care to patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures. As a highly advanced community hospital serving coastal communities in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, Baptist Nassau offers a collaborative environment where nurses play a critical role in ensuring safe recoveries and exceptional patient outcomes. This role is ideal for a nurse with strong assessment skills and experience in surgical or critical care settings. Provides for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement; organization; supervision of care provided by supportive personnel and coordination of care provided by ancillary services • Including patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care • Education of patients/SO/families to their disease process and plan of care • Serves as patient advocate and responsible for providing care to critical patients that require a higher acuity of care.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years Surgical Services Experience (required)
  • 2–3 years Critical Care Nursing Experience (required)
  • Hospital experience (required)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (required)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) (required)

Nice To Haves

  • PACU or Recovery Services experience (preferred)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred)
  • Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor patients recovering from anesthesia and surgical procedures
  • Assess and manage pain, nausea, and post-operative complications
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Monitor vital signs and evaluate changes in patient condition
  • Educate patients and families on recovery expectations and discharge instructions
  • Coordinate care with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation and patient records
  • Participate in unit-based initiatives and continuous quality improvement activities
