About The Position

The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient's hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach.

Requirements

Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri
Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration or Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State
Ability to relate to coworkers in a professional and appropriate manner
Demonstrates ability to change and adapt to changing work demands
Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice
Performs job in accordance with safety and infection control policies
Provides service excellence to the customers of Saint Louis University Hospital
Incorporates Performance Improvement and Evidenced Based Practice into individual professional practice

Responsibilities

Performs comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment, including age-appropriate admission/transfer assessments, post-op/post-procedure assessments, and assessment of education/discharge needs.
Establishes, coordinates, and evaluates a plan of care based on assessment data, patient diagnosis, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
Provides and documents nursing interventions based on assessed patient needs, plan of care, and changes in patient status, including medication administration, IV fluid monitoring, referrals, and patient/family education.
Documents and communicates nursing care and changes in patient condition, including ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness and patient/family education.
Provides specialized care to patients at high risk for injury, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment.
Demonstrates accountability for own professional practice by adhering to quality standards, policies, and procedures, and maintaining currency in hospital/unit information.
Relates to coworkers in a professional and appropriate manner, participating in team collaboration, orienting new employees, and functioning as a resource person.
Performs job in accordance with safety and infection control policies, including standard precautions, maintaining a safe environment, and reporting risk management concerns.
Provides service excellence to customers by delivering timely, high-quality care in a courteous and respectful manner, communicating effectively, and demonstrating competence and collaboration.
Incorporates Performance Improvement and Evidenced Based Practice into individual professional practice, assisting in developing unit goals, remaining current with evidence-based practice, and participating in performance improvement processes.
Provides age-appropriate care to adults and geriatrics, demonstrating knowledge and skills necessary for the age of the patient served.
Provides cost-effective services by using resources efficiently, recommending changes in practice to increase efficiency, and documenting chargeable supplies.
