Penrose - St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. Penrose Hospital serves as the anchor hospital of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services with 300-licensed beds and the ability to provide tertiary (high tech) medical-surgical services with an emphasis on elective and outpatient care. As a Registered Nurse (RN) you will assume responsibility and accountability for: Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act. Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values. Previous PACU/ICU/ED experience required- 1 yr min. Day to Day duties: Recover all cases, both Phase I & II in same area.Approx. 40-50+ cases per day RNs will cover both pre-op and PACU areas with 3-4 total on each shift. Staff is expected to float between Pre Op/ PACU RNs in pre-op/ PACU are responsible for pre op calls, PATs, transports in addition to the clinical aspects of pre-op and PACU care. Unit does see a few recoveries from other departments but is rare OR, Pre Op, PACU are all centrally located on the same floor. OR Suites-16 PACU Bays-16 Prep Op Beds-18 Phase I & II recovered in same areas Schedule:30Hrs/ Week- Variable days/start times per volume and unit needs. TBD during interviews with the unit manager. Call required: 30Min Call Back Radius required

Requirements

  • At least six months of direct RN experience
  • Previous PACU/ICU/ED experience required- 1 yr min.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates
  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
  • Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred for experienced RNs
  • One year experience preferred

Responsibilities
