About The Position

Responsible for providing professional nursing care for SIH patients. This role involves 3 x 12-hour shifts from 9 am to 9:30 pm, with call required on weekends. The nurse will assess patients' mental, physical, and spiritual needs, establish a compassionate environment, and provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families. The position requires assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating individual care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team, providing health teaching and counseling, and demonstrating clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize and report changes in patient condition. Responsibilities also include accurate and timely documentation, contributing to policy development for patient safety and quality of care, supervising and delegating tasks to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistants, serving as a patient advocate, timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure, and floating to other SIH nursing units within competency level.

Requirements

  • Associate, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Nursing
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • Current CPR/BLS Card
  • Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire)
  • Current ACLS & PALS card (within 6 months of hire)
  • TNCC or TNS (within 1 year of hire or residency graduation) - required effective 6/2026
  • ECRN (within 24 months of hire of residency graduation) - required effective 6/2026
  • ACLS, Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring, & NRP (within 6 months of hire)
  • NRP (within 6 months of hire)
  • NRP & PALS (within 6 months of hire)
  • ONS CTC-Infusion Center: Fundamentals within first 6 months
  • ONS Chemotherapy Certificate Course (within 1 year, renewed every 2 years)
  • SJ-Infusion: Fundamentals within first 6 months, renewed every 2 years
  • SJ-Infusion: ONS Chemotherapy Certificate (renewed every 2 years)

Responsibilities

  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
  • Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
  • Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Benefits
