About The Position

Wilson Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for its PACU / Same Day Surgery (SDS) / Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) role in Sidney, Ohio. This is a direct hire, part-time position working the 1st shift. As an RN in these departments, you will be integral to providing safe, compassionate, and high-quality care throughout the surgical patient's journey. You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure exceptional pre- and post-procedure care, aiming for positive patient outcomes and satisfaction. The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients across all age groups, monitoring conditions, administering treatments, educating patients and families, and coordinating care transitions. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage both routine and emergency situations, all while embodying Wilson Health's core values of compassion, professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and collaboration.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio.
• Critical Care experience or a minimum of five (5) years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
• Previous PACU, SDS, PAT, Critical Care, Emergency Department, or Surgical Services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performing comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments throughout the perioperative experience.
• Developing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying individualized plans of care based on patient needs and clinical findings.
• Administering medications, treatments, and diagnostic procedures safely and accurately in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies.
• Assessing and managing patient pain using appropriate interventions and evidence-based practices.
• Recognizing changes in patient condition and initiating appropriate interventions and physician notifications.
• Coordinating pre-admission testing, Phase I PACU recovery, Phase II recovery, and discharge planning activities.
• Serving as a Conscious Sedation Nurse in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Educating patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, discharge instructions, and ongoing care needs.
• Maintaining accurate, timely, and compliant documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, physicians, nursing colleagues, and ancillary departments to ensure quality patient outcomes.
• Delegating and supervising patient care activities as appropriate while serving as a resource to support staff.
• Promoting patient safety, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance with ASPAN standards and hospital policies.
• Demonstrating flexibility by efficiently supporting PACU, SDS, and PAT operations based on departmental needs.
• Participating in orientation, mentoring, continuing education, staff development activities, and departmental initiatives.
• Performs additional duties as assigned, within the scope of responsibility.
