About The Position

This is a full-time (80 hours biweekly) position for a Registered Nurse in an Outpatient Procedural Oncology unit, working Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm. The role utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate comprehensive patient care. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care, patient and family teaching, symptom management, counseling, and providing a supportive role to patients and their families. Specific skills may vary based on the assigned unit or specialty.

Requirements

  • Diploma Program or Associates Degree in Nursing
  • 1 year of Nursing experience
  • Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire or Registered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire
  • Basic Life Support Upon Hire
  • Current BLS certification for all areas of nursing practice
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
  • Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients.
  • Writes initial nursing histories, assesses patients' conditions, and develops individual care plans.
  • Carries out physician orders, such as administering medications or treatments, preparing operating rooms, and ordering tests.
  • Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning.
  • Monitors and restocks supplies.
  • Assists providers during examinations and procedures.
  • Maintains aseptic techniques and monitors for breaches.
  • Assists with patient care activities like dressing changes, wound cleaning, monitoring vital signs, starting IVs, and inserting tubes.
  • Provides health care instruction and education to patients and family members.
  • Performs nursing administrative duties.
  • Prepares and maintains records of patient charges.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles for the assigned patient population.
  • Assesses and interprets patient age-specific data and provides appropriate treatment.
