About The Position

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our statewide Orthopedics, Sports Medicine & Podiatry Triage Pod, providing exceptional telephone triage and clinical support to patients calling with symptoms and concerns related to our Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, and Podiatry practices across the state. In this role, the Call Center Triage RN supports both new and established patients across the state. The RN utilizes clinical judgment, evidence-based triage protocols, and specialty knowledge to assess patient concerns, identify appropriate levels of care, provide patient education, and facilitate timely connection to the appropriate care team or service. This is an excellent opportunity for an independent nurse who enjoys a stimulating clinical environment, critical thinking, patient education, and the opportunity to positively impact access to care across a large health system. Training will be completed remotely and may include insight training within Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, and Podiatry clinics to support understanding of specialty-specific workflows, resources, and patient populations.

Requirements

  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Knowledge of procedures for performing the functions appropriate to the specific clinical area and familiarity with designated pieces of equipment and supplies.
  • Requires ability to coordinate a number of functions for a group of patients in an effective timely manner.
  • Requires awareness and understanding of legal implications of patient care activities and performance as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience is preferred.
  • Previous telephone triage experience is a plus.
  • Orthopedic, sports medicine, podiatry, or other specialty nursing experience is highly valued.
  • Two years experience in an ambulatory setting preferred.
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide telephone triage and clinical support to patients.
  • Utilize clinical judgment, evidence-based triage protocols, and specialty knowledge to assess patient concerns.
  • Identify appropriate levels of care for patients.
  • Provide patient education.
  • Facilitate timely connection to the appropriate care team or service.
  • Assess patients without face-to-face interaction.
