About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Orthopedics department, specifically on Eisenberg 82/92, a 35-bed unit specializing in orthopedic surgery for adult and adolescent patients. The patient population includes those undergoing total joint replacements, reconstructive surgery, sports medicine procedures, orthopedic oncology, and treatment for infected musculoskeletal disease. Factors affecting patient care often include advanced age, comorbidities, self-care deficits, and complex care coordination. The unit features private rooms with ceiling lifts. The nursing team focuses on increasing patient independence, preventing complications like skin breakdown, infection, and falls, managing pain, providing patient education, individualized care, acute care, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The unit has received the service excellence award for seven consecutive years. This position is eligible for TN sponsorship, requiring state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification. For new graduate nurses, applications should be directed to the Nurse Residency Program.

Requirements

Graduate of a nursing program recognized by ACEN, CCNE, or NLN CNEA.
One year of RN experience required.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.
All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of the baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.
Current RN license by applicable state requirements.
BLS (Basic Life Support) must be valid for 90 days post start date; acceptable certifications include: American Heart Association (AHA)/ Heartcode® BLS, Military Training Network, Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers).
Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.

Responsibilities

Coordination of nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care.
