Ortho / Neuro Unit: This newly remodeled 25 private bed unit is committed to providing the highest quality, compassionate care to total joint; general orthopedics; spine and neurosurgery patients. We are a highly engaged team, with a dedicated orthopedic coordinator that collaborates with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons and we take a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care. Nursing skills gained on this unit: General Orthopedic skills: dressing changes, post operative ambulation, brace application, ect. Wound vac care, IV therapy and medications Pre-op and Post-op care for ortho/neuro/spine patients Unit Successes/Designations: Healthgrades Joint Replacement Excellence Award 2023 Previously held Advanced Certification in Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement and Hip Fracture Certification by the Joint Commission for over 10 years. Lead all inpatient units in meeting the goal of decreased Length of Stay. Unit Culture: Fast paced Quick turnaround times Collaborative care with physical therapy, case management team, social work, hospitalist, and Surgeons along with nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year of RN experience.
  • Associates of Nursing (ASN).
  • Graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program (exceptions may be made for candidates with over two years of acute care experience, subject to CNO approval).
  • Current state of Indiana license as Registered Nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA.
  • Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality, compassionate care to total joint, general orthopedics, spine and neurosurgery patients.
  • Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and other healthcare professionals using a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
  • Perform general orthopedic skills such as dressing changes, post-operative ambulation, and brace application.
  • Administer wound vac care, IV therapy, and medications.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for ortho/neuro/spine patients.
