About The Position

This role is for a Registered Nurse in the Ortho department at Ascension Saint Thomas West in Nashville, TN. The position is PRN (as needed) and involves night shifts. The unit is Joint Commission Certified for hip and knee replacement as well as hip fracture repair. Responsibilities include assisting in post-operative care for patients undergoing elective total joint surgeries (hip, shoulder, knee, ankle replacements), providing post-surgical support such as surgical dressings, drains, and medication management, and partnering with Physical Therapists to implement exercise and mobility plans. The unit also handles a variety of general medical patients from the Emergency Department.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Assist in post-operative care for patients having elective total joint surgeries like hip, shoulder, knee and ankle replacements.
Provide post surgical support to patients in the form of surgical dressings, drains and medication management.
Partner with Physical Therapists in the Joint Replacement Center to implement exercise and mobility plans to ensure patient success.
Care for a variety of general medical patients who flow in through the Emergency Department.
