About The Position

This is a part-time night position for a Registered Nurse on the ORTHO Unit. The Registered Nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Director, responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of total nursing care for assigned patients. The role involves utilizing communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to create patient care plans that consider physiological, psychosocial, and cultural diversity. The RN is also responsible for supervising and delegating tasks to non-professional personnel to ensure optimal patient care and must demonstrate competence in addressing the age-related needs of the patient populations served. The position operates under the direction of leadership and a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive services in accordance with Riverside Health System's standards and facility goals.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Virginia Department of Health Professions (VDHP) or licensed in a compact state Upon Hire (Required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) Upon Hire (Required)
  • Nursing Diploma is minimum education requirement, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Nursing accepted in lieu of Nursing Diploma (Required)
  • High School Diploma or GED, HS Diploma/GED only required if Nursing Diploma Graduate (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient clinical and psychosocial needs by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population.
  • Demonstrate nursing unit specific competencies and equipment training.
  • Partner with patients and their families to develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of care, treatments, and procedures that contribute to physiological and psychosocial outcomes.
  • Incorporate evidence-based standards of practice and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team in care coordination.
  • Facilitate safe patient transition to the next level of care as part of the plan of care.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput to ensure consistent, competent, and ethical care.
  • Focus on quality patient outcomes when addressing service needs to ensure evidence-based quality care.
  • Demonstrate understanding of diverse patient care populations and modify education methods to ensure patient/family understanding.
  • Coordinate and deliver individualized patient education and discharge-specific education to family/caregivers, evaluating for comprehension and documenting.
  • Accurately complete all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Delegate and prioritize tasks appropriately to facilitate quality patient care and service excellence to meet patient care needs.
  • Recognize and respond to emergency situations.
  • Evaluate resources and support needed and use systems to ensure needs are met.
