About The Position

The Orthopedic Trauma Unit at Indiana University Health Methodist is a specialized, 29-bed medical-surgical unit focused on caring for patients with various orthopedic traumas, including those from motor vehicle accidents, falls, crush injuries, and post-operative care for joint repairs, replacements, and thoracolumbar surgeries. Team members on this unit gain skills in managing complex patient diagnoses, time management, post-operative surgical care, prioritization, foundational nursing skills, and multidisciplinary communication. Requirements
- Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
- Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
Nice To Haves
- Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
