The registered professional clinical nurse (RN) is accountable and responsible for the provision and coordination of competent, evidence-based care along the care continuum, which includes assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The clinical nurse participates in decision-making, teaching, mentoring, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team to advance the patient plan of care, achieve outcomes and enhance operational efficiency. The nurse adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.

Requirements

  • Requires at least 1 year of OR experience
  • Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
  • Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
  • Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
  • Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.

  • Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care in a 9-bed operating room that includes 3 robotic surgery suites.
  • Provides direct patient care using a 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, ensuring safe, efficient surgical procedures across a variety of specialties.
  • Preparing patients for surgery, including assessment, documentation, and coordination of care
  • Circulating during procedures, maintaining sterile field and patient safety
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesia, and surgical team members
  • Managing robotic-assisted surgeries and advanced surgical equipment
  • Monitoring patient status throughout procedures and ensuring smooth transitions of care
