Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN program
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kansas or compact state
  • Current BLS/CPR card prior to participating in patient care activities.
  • Ability to apply the basic principles of nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Keyboarding skills and basic computer skills.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN strongly preferred
  • Previous Operating Room experience
  • CNOR certification

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, plan, implement, and document individualized nursing plan of care for patients ranging from 4 months - geriatric.
  • Direct the work of technical or assistive staff supporting the operating room.
  • Verify patient identity prior to surgery and confirm that all orders and consent forms are in place.
  • Monitor the patient and assist the surgeon during the procedure.
  • Must be able to demonstrate unit-specific competencies required by unit-specific checklists.
  • Meet scheduling requirements including nights, weekends, holidays, and/or call.
  • Act in accordance with the established mission, vision, and values.
  • Abide by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Maintain effective communication and professional working relationships with patients/clients and their representatives, team members, contractors, physicians, peers, outside agencies, and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
