About The Position

Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Operating Room (OR) team at our University of Minnesota Medical Center East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. This position will serve an all-adult patient population. The OR at UMMC East Bank completes on average 45-50 scheduled cases per day. Requirements

  • MN RN license required
  • BLS for Health Care Providers
  • Minimum of 1 year OR RN experience or 2 years’ experience as a Surgical Technologist.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year Scrub Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • The Operating Room RN demonstrates the ability to establish an environment of safety for the surgical patient.
  • Assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate treatments and procedures that contribute to the physiological stability of the surgical patient.
  • Serve as a circulator or scrub during operative procedures.
  • Implements protective measures prior to operative or invasive procedure, including measures to prevent skin or tissue injury due to thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical sources.
  • Confirms identity before the operative or invasive procedure and verifies operative procedure, surgical site and laterality.
  • Applies safety devices, performs required counts, manages specimen handling and disposition.
  • Demonstrates knowledge about the psychologic, sociologic, and spiritual responses of patients and their families to the operative or other invasive procedure.
  • Applies principles of aseptic technique while establishing and maintaining sterile fields.
  • Performs skin preparations, monitors for wound contamination, and classifies the surgical wound.
  • Ensures perioperative environmental sanitation.
