About The Position
The Registered Nurse - Operating Room position is located in the North Tower Outpatient Surgery Center at the UAB St Vincents Brimingham Campus. This role involves delivering professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. Responsibilities include performing scrub and circulating functions, directly assisting the operating physician with surgical tasks, and preparing operating rooms, surgical instruments, and equipment for use.
Requirements
- Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing
- Professional licensure at time of hire required.
- One year of RN Experience required
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
- Licensed Associate Professional Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
Responsibilities
- Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
- Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
- Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
- Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
- Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
